Film Review - Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
Virtually all of us have grown up with this movie. Every so often the people at Disney dust it off and re-release it as they do all of their classics. But this one is special, Disney says it's special because it was first. I say this is special because it's the best Disney has ever done.
Snow White and the Seven Dwarves should be declared a national treasure. Not only is it a great family motion picture, it was a break-through in animation of the human form. Not three years previous to this picture Disney made a short film which featured their first human character. The motion did not give the illusion of three dimensional movement as does Snow White.
This is also a fun and entertaining film that you can watch with young children. A straight good versus evil film, Snow White deals with jealousy, attempted murder, and witch-craft. Everything you've come to expect from The Jerry Springer Show without the sleaze.
Much of this achievement comes from the never tiring production skills of Walt Disney himself. Disney was a dreamer and was willing to put everything he had into his dreams. A lesser producer would have decided that the animation of the era was good enough and gotten the film out a lot quicker and cheaper. Disney took his time and mortgaged everything he had to make this film. So behind this simple good versus evil play is a man toiling towards a vision and triumphing.
